A burger is also a kind of sandwich. Still, in this case, sliced buns, grounded patties of either beef or pork or chicken are placed in between the sliced buns and finely chopped vegetable lettuce, olives and tomato.

The buns used in hamburgers are sesame seed buns. The ground patty is usually grilled or toasted in a pan. These delicious buns are typically served with slices of cheese, mayonnaise, or any other secret sauces.

Simply put, a hamburger is a loaf of grilled meat put between two bun slices. There are predominantly two variations in the food. One is the vegetable burger, and the other is the steak burger. It is one of the most popular fast food in America.

A pizza is a dish with a round flatbread base with an assortment of cheese, finely chopped vegetables or meat, tomato sauce baked inside an oven. Usually, it is served in two bases, the thin crust and the thick crust.

The thin crust pizza is a type wherein the base dough is made thin, whereas the thick crust pizza is a type wherein the dough base is made thick.

In the thin-crust version, the toppings are added in large quantities and extra cheese as well. The Italian version of the pizza is the best you could ever have because the dish’s origin started from there.

Burger vs Pizza – Health wise comparison

This post between burger vs pizza is for calorie-conscious persons. Many people do not count the number of calories when it comes to eating either of them. They often wonder how many calories they have taken after they have eaten a lot.

Hence, it becomes essential for people to know about the number of calories they have taken and the healthy nutrition between the two foods. Therefore in this blog post, we have covered the nutritional information between these two foods.

Fat

Fat is one of the vital nutrient requirements of our body, and it acts as the super energy saver stored in our body. But it has its limits.

Over presence of fat in our body leads to obesity and an array of health problems ranging from cardiovascular to nervous and respiratory issues.

The daily intake limit of fat for an average person is 45 to 80 grams. One pizza slice contains 10 gm of fat. Usually, one complete pizza has 6 whole pieces, and hence it contains 60 gm of fat, whereas one entire hamburger contains 22 grams of fat. The harmful version of the fat, saturated fat, is 30 gm in one pizza, whereas it is 10.2 gm in the burger.

Hence the fat content intake by a person in one serving of pizza(two slices) is 20 gm, whereas the fat content intake by a person in one burger is 22 gm. Hence health-wise, when it comes to fat content between the two, pizza is a healthier option when compared to a burger by a small margin.

Cholesterol

Cholesterol is also an essential requirement in our body which is helpful for the daily functioning of our body and liver activities.

The daily intake limit of cholesterol for an average person is 290 to 310 milligrams. The cholesterol content of a double patty burger is 55 mg. In contrast, the cholesterol content of a single slice of pizza is 17.5 mg. The cholesterol content of an entire pizza is 6 times the single slices having 17.5 mg equaling 105 mg.

Hence the cholesterol content intake by a person in one serving of pizza(two slices) is 35 mg. In contrast, the cholesterol content intake by a person in one burger is 55 mg. Again in comparison to burger vs pizza on cholesterol, pizza wins hands down.

Sodium

The average recommended limit for sodium for an average person is 2300 mg per day(Source: CDC). The sodium content of a hamburger is 498 mg, whereas the sodium content of a single slice of pizza is 650 mg. The sodium content of an entire pizza is 6 times of single cuts having 650mg equaling 3900 mg.

Hence the sodium content intake by a person in one serving of pizza(two slices) is 1300 mg. In contrast, the sodium content intake by a person in one hamburger is 498 mg. Again in comparison to burger vs pizza on sodium, hamburger wins hands down.
